Friedrich was born in Germany and sailed in 1863 on board the Young America with his two brothers from England to Melbourne, Australia. He was a blacksmith. He married Elizabeth Jarvis in Beechworth, Victoria - reg cert no 71. This indicated he was a (Gold) Miner residing at Twists Creek, a small gold mining creek not far from Yackandandah in Victoria. The registration papers state that he was born in Salzgitten, (Salt Grid) near Hanover in Germany in 1841.
Elizabeth's parents William Jarvis & Janet Drummond were married in the Presbyterian Church at Bungendore, nr Braidwood in New South Wales, Australia in 1847. We don't know when Janet migrated to Australia from Scotland with her parents but William was transported as a convict for 7 years on the 3rd Jan 1838 for stealing fowl. His ship was the Earl Grey.
Elizabeth & Friedrick married on Sat 29th Feb 1868. They had two children in Beechworth. Augusta E. in 1868 & Frederick in 1870. They then travelled to Hill End, around Bathurst NSW before having August Henry on Fri 10 Jan 1873. in 1873 Friedrich was granted a Naturalisation Certificate. He changed his name to Frederick. Their 4th child William Chrisopher was born on Sun 30 May 1875 at Adelong, a gold mining town near Tumut in the NSW Snowy Mountains They stayed here for ten years and had 4 more children - Emmerline J in 1877, Albert Ernest on Fri 17 Oct 1879, Isabella Maud on Fri 17 Nov 1882 and Mabel Janette on Wed 2nd Apr 1884. They then moved to Redfern, Sydney where their 9th child Amy B (Beatrice) was born.
Elizabeth & Frederick then reside in Paddington Sydney till their deaths - Frederick around 1905 & Elizabeth in 1919.

Travel From Germany 1860
atbatbay1added this on 16 Jul 2007
Frederick Hans (21 - labourer) travelled from Germany to Liverpool England with his two brothers August (25 labourer) and Fitz (23 - labourer). They then travelled from Liverpool on the Young America on the 5th April 1860 to Port Phillip Bay Melbourne Victoria Australia. The voyage took 140 days with 336 people on board.
Their names on the register were spelt Alberg but as all passengers were registered by one person, the spelling cannot be guaranteed. This shows with the spelling of Frederick children's surnames.
